Buff

Buff, authored by Stephen Burke and Fiachra Corcoran, presents a text that offers some new conceptual frameworks for contextualizing graffiti removal within an artistic context. This focuses on the aesthetic qualities of techniques like pressure washing and sandblasting buffs and exploring why certain removal methods are prevalent in particular regions. This research builds upon the insights of artist Avalon Kalin, who is interviewed within this book and is regarded as one of the earliest artists to investigate this topic.

The book is a project which investigates the culture of graffiti removal as an art form within Dublin, Ireland. It is an exploration of the colours, compositions and concepts offered up by these mostly undocumented public artworks that exist on Dublin's streets. The project is a collaboration between Stephen Burke and Fiachra Corcoran and is documented through analogue photography

The publication is a hardback photobook designed by Eric Stynes and was published in August 2017 by 1815 Magazine.
